The White Hart Pub

Customer Testimonials

Our wonderful customers are the reason we’re in business. Here are some of the great things they’ve said about us:

Amazing food great ale warm welcome”
Arrived here after cold walk in the rain to a fabulous welcome. The landlord hung our coats to dry above the fire and sat us by one of the gorgeous 3 fire places. Incredible homemade food (especially the chips!) and great ale. Our dog was welcome and we felt at home. Will be back again for sure!

“Awesome food, country pub at its best”
Had lunch in the White Hart two or three times now and each time it’s been some of the best pub food I’ve ever had. All prepared and cooked to order and to a fantastic standard. Service is warm and friendly and the pub itself is characterful and cosy.

“A little gem”
On one of my numerous journeys from east to the west country across country I have difficulties find a simple place to rest, refresh have a meal. But this fits the bill. Lovely home cooked pub food, lovely surroundings and friendly welcoming staff. No need to don a top hat just simple a fresh. And all at a reasonable price

“Wonderful quaint village pub”
We had dinner here on Halloween night. The ambiance is perfectly captured by Picture 6 – that was our table by the blazing fire. Tim the chef and owner came out & talked through options and choices – he knew his customers already and had vegetarian options planned and prepared. We had 2 starters between 4 of us and were nearly over-faced with them alone. Best baked camembert I have tasted. Great, smooth and creamy, flavour-packed chicken liver pate. Toasted ciabatta bread to accompany. Main dishes matched in quality and quantity – 3 different Thai curries – one with roasted broccoli (delish – never had it before), one with prawns and one with chicken. All with perfect rice. One steak and ale pie with chips and braised cabbage – again, fantastic. One pudding (to share between 2) 3 individual sticky toffee puddings – wonderful. As was the wine – actually WORTH £19 for the bottle. Other diners around us were cheerfully blown away by burgers, pizzas and (especially) steaks served sizzling on hot stones. A brilliant evening. To be repeated next time we’re in Preston Bissett.

“Fab home made pizza”
Very friendly staff. Really tasty thin crust home made pizza. Great chicken curry. The interior of the pub has been renovated very well so that it is old style with exposed beams and stonework, but light and airy.

“Lovely Pub, Amazing Food! What a find!”
Quaint and cosy village pub which felt warm and welcoming as soon as we entered. Great ambiance, very friendly staff and the food was superb. Best steak I’ve had in a long time – high quality and perfectly cooked! Loved the variety behind the bar, ask for a snickers short – you have to try it to believe it! We had a fabulous evening. Highly recommend a visit.

“Perfect little village pub”
All beams and pretty furniture, but the real treat is the welcome. We turned up with a group of youngsters and were immediately made to feel at home. Beer (Hooky) was well kept and poured. Good range of snacks. We enjoyed a very nice pizza (don’t think Dominos – think posh pizza), and the children learned to play bar billiards. The billiards table is free. Really nice – a tiny gem. Worth a detour to visit.

“Friendly Village Pub”
If you are in the area, it’s a great village pub with friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Under new ownership since 2014, the new folks are making great strides in making it one of the best pubs in the area. I’ve been a few times and most recently took my wife and 3 children in and they really enjoyed the trip. If you have kids, and like the odd trip to a pub in an early evening, its great to know you aren’t being stared at for having young human beings in tow. Great pub.
